Charlestown

So last night was the opening of the new bridge between Mt. Pleasant and downtown Charleston. Had a $300,000 firework show which i had the pleasure of watching from a couch in the firestation. Of 3 trucks that wern't in a position to participate in the festivities i was on one of em(damnit) but oh well. The firework show was still great on TV and i kept in phone contact with some of my buddies who were there so no worries. The new bridge is really nice looking but I will miss the old ones which are closing tomorrow and will begin to be taken down. I got some pics of the old cooper river bridge to show people. Its a great bridge to take out-of-towners over because its extremely old, extremely rusty, and the lanes are extremely narrow. I love scaring people. I'll miss old bridge, gonna take my final drive over it when i head downtown tonight.

All in all works pretty damn great. Had my first death on my second shift (full cardiac arrest) which was kinda nerve rattling. What better way to break the new guy in though then put em through the hard stuff. I mostly tried to stay out of the way and pass off equipment as it was asked for when we were working the guy. Next time i'll get fully involved though. It was a major heart attack anyhow and there was nothing we could have done to save him anyhow so that makes it easier on me. Nights tend to get busy with drunks and addicts. Weekend being the worse. They always find interesting places to take a nap. I'm having a good time though and the stress level is at a low.

Anyhow, im out, hopefully in the next couple shifts i'll have some interesting stories for yas.

You're living a real life now, bro.

You'll have enough material to write a book in a year, and wonderful stories you'll be able to tell your grandkids.

Keep on fightin the fight!

I'm very glad you're happy with the career choice you've made bro. It makes life so much better. Sounds like you're going to do just fine.

I'm leaning towards going back over to the patrol cop aspect again only in Tennessee this time.

By the way, I lost yer damn email again. I think Ryan has it though.

Aww no more scaring your visitors on the old bridge ;). I am glad to say I had the pleasure of driving across that with you before they tear it down.
I am happy that you are enjoying your job. It is nice to hear that you are enjoying yourself right now :)
